Kurt St. Damien
Kurt St. Damien

Biography:
Kurt started singing by learning all the lyrics to Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors album while just getting out of diapers. He started formal music training in fourth grade learning theory and saxophone from a neighborhood teen and played in various school bands for years. As a freshman in high school, he auditioned on a whim for Guys And Dolls and discovered he liked singing in front of other people and sang with as many choruses as possible, studied solo performance and did as many musicals as possible. His favorite summer of music was when he was at The Center For Creative Youth At Wesleyan in 1990. He was studying advanced theory, opera and musical performance during the day and singing covers of Fugazi, Janes Addiction and the Ramones with the punk band Public Safety at night. In his Senior year of High school he formed the band Zdair with some friends and wrote original pieces as well as performed covers. Kurt continued his musical studies by majoring in musical theatre at Emerson College in boston and immersing himself in the history, direction and performance of Rock Musicals. In his senior year at Emerson he wrote a modern rock musical called Come On Feel The Music which included techno, funk and heavy metal ballads and a story that concerned the early battles over sampled music. After graduating from college, he continued to write music, started several scripts for musicals and acted semi-professionally. In 1998 he started writing music for himself under the moniker Saint Damien to be performed with scenes and choreography in a progressive industrial style. The music and costumes were influenced by video games, anime, myths and religion and each song concerned the dialectics of humanity. He was however pleasantly side tracked by life via taking an offer to run the publishing company he worked for Baker’s Plays, getting married and buying a house. After a few years, he missed singing terribly and at the last moment decided to audition for The Rocky Horror Show(his all time favorite rock musical) at Company Theatre in Norwell MA. After a four week run that resulted in positive reviews and groupies, he decided he needed to keep singing in lieu of ever needing therapy or Prozac. So while most fathers-to-be were getting in final naps and settling down, he got a PA system and started auditioning for area cover and metal bands and then was fortunate enough to audition for and to be asked to sing for the incredibly talented Infinity Minus One.

Musical Influences:
His musical influences are way too many too mention but include New Order, Emerson Lake And Palmer, Fear Factory, Rush, Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Brujeria, Eels, Stephen Sondheim, Primus, Ozzy Osborne, Rimsky-Korsikov, Meatloaf, Final Fantasy, Anthrax, Mussorgsky, Tim Rice, Sepultura, They Might Be Giants, Soulfly, Richard O’Brian, Slayer(The Band), Slayers(The Anime Series), Phish, Sensor, David Zippel, Snow, Blood Hound Gang, Amorphis, Queen, Accept, Buju Banton, Ministry, Rammstein, The Beat, Dream Theater, Beastie Boys and Bone Crusher. Mind you, many of his influences are due to the fact that someone told them that they should give up, to which they immediately told said mother f#$@#rs to f#$k off.
