Taken from East Coast Romper
INFINITY MINUS ONE from Boston, Massachusetts currently got in touch with me and sent me their latest CD, which I am listening to at the moment. My first thought was this was going to be a mad heavy disc since I knew their bassist Kelly Conlon was in the band Death and helped out on a few monstrosity discs, but it has nothing to do with his past cause INFINITY MINUS ONE sheds some crazy progressive style music to these four songs on the disc. They combine elements of classical music, film scores and video games in a rock context. For me I really enjoy the piano display on the tune FACE TO FACE. Another highlight is the tribal drumming I hear in the background. The song seems light and airy but has that heavy mass circling around it to make it unique and mystical. INDEPENDENCE DAY brings out the technical side of the band showing off the character of each member through their instruments. ARCHITECTURAL MARTYR brings a bluesy, rock atmosphere where AT THE DOORWAY OF EXISTENCE highlights a more metal approach. Although I'm not a huge fan of this type of music, this band brings a freshness with different elements of music genres so each song changes a bit, so you are not bored. Something a fan of Dream Theater would eat up.
